Skicap 2026

That’s twenty more than last season. It sounds impressive until you bump into the average UVM student on a lift who tells you they’re on day 80 of the season… Let’s keep the upward trend going!
2026 Ski Trips
I did a whole lot of skiing this year, and I’m very happy with how this season filled itself out. On several occasions, I found myself falling into conflicts of commitment, but through optimized procrastination and schedule hacking, I was able to pull this off.

Top Picks
Days 16, 19, 20, 22, and 26. I think after skiing 36 days this season, it’s reasonable to pick five favorites. Day 16 was an epic 2’ powder day at Stratton. There was so much fresh snow this day that I’m pretty sure all of my classes were cancelled, but I’ll be honest, I would have skipped them all in heartbeat for this day regardless. Day 19 is a little bit more of a stretch here because the conditions weren’t quite as amazing, but come on, it’s Magic. Day 20 was an absolute blast of a powder day at Sugarbush where I spent most of the day lapping Bear Claw and other the semi-secret pow lines to the skier’s left. Day 22 was another impeccable pow day at Stratton where my buddy and I got first tracks on Eclipse, and we spent most of the day tearing up the glades and jumping off rocks. My buddy took a pretty awesome tumble off a rock and into a yard sale in Why Not. (Hint: his name rhymes with Madison…). Lastly, day 26 at Wildcat was amazing in an entirely different way (see here). While the conditions were just “fine,” I skied 51,000’ of vertical in 25 runs (with breaks), and the views were great.
Final Thoughts
While I would have liked to have made it up for Black Mountain’s closing day like I did last season, I was down in Orlando at the time and unable to make it. Post on this coming soon. On Day 8 at Mohawk, I tried snowboarding for my first time for a little while. It was fun, and I got the hang of it after a little while, but I enjoy skiing much more. Day 34, Jay Peak was another top contender, but while still boasting 100% open terrain at the end of March, the trails were pretty scratchy. The views were absolutely gorgeous though. Days 35 & 36 at Tremblant were a blast with the après ski scene, and there was a whole lot more snow than last year, but being relegated to April pretty much all but eliminates the prospect of making one of my top picks. Got to see some cute porcupines though!
Oh, one more thing: I was elected president of my university’s ski club, so I suppose I’m doing something well on that front. Here’s to an even better 2026-2027 season!
